GO-TO GIFTS FOR THE CLIMBER IN YOUR LIFE

Climbing gifts

What do you get a climber who has more gear than ornaments on the Christmas tree? Worry not. We’ve got the gift list of items climbers don’t even know they need!
REST + NOURISHMENT
Check out the partnership between the Searchers of Surf and Stone (ahem… we meant Hippy Tree) and Rumpl. A DWR treated synthetic puffy blanket! Imagine wrapping up in that on a cool evening after a day of try hard at the crag, bathed in the flickering light of Parks Project’s Yosemite pine candle. Nice right? Now what if—just maybe—in your hands was an Earth Treks mug filled with your favorite tea and sweetened with Bushwick Kitchen’s spicy honey? You’re getting sleeeepy. Settle in for the night and wake up to some eggs off the griddle topped with Bushwick Kitchen’s Gochujang Sriracha. Now get out there to carpe another diem!
NON-GEAR
Parks Project products. Get your fill of candles, mugs, shirts and more! them. All your purchases contribute to National Park stewardship. Not to mention looking fly repping your favorite National Park.
UNSUNG HEROES OF CLIMBING GEAR
Skin files. Not always the most pleasant thought, but it’s much better than those flappers you see at the gym. This and Climb Skin, Joshua Tree, Banjo & Bean or your favorite balm are the best ways to condition your hands at the end of the day so you can speed your recovery like X-Man Wolverine and crush the next day (disclaimer: We do not recommend the skin file for combat with Magneto)

Nail Clippers. Just ask yourself how many you have. Five?! Okay, you can skip this. Yes, yes, yes. We know. Nail clippers aren’t the most glamorous of gifts. But if you have only one, consider throwing one in the pack for the climber you care about. They’ll thank you. Trust us.
CLASSICS
Helmet
A helmet is a cheap investment in the safety of the climber in your life! If purchased at Earth Treks, they can always exchange it for the right size if they haven’t used it.

Double sling
A wise climber once said, “a double nylon sling is the duct tape of climbing”. We’re paraphrasing here, but if you ask around, we’re sure you’ll get verification. A double sling can be used in numerous self-rescue scenarios, not to mention its various uses in standard climbing and rappelling situations.

Headlamp
“I’m not going to climb in the dark.” This phrase is all too often heard on our climbing floors, in the gear shop or anywhere else climbers like to congregate. Unfortunately, the experienced climber will tell you that is easier said than done. You can never have enough of these babies floating around.
EASY WIN
What gift list would be complete without a shameless plug for an Earth Treks gift card? Gift cards can be used towards the gear, apparel, classes, memberships or passes.

Many of the items listed today can be found in your local Earth Treks gear shop or online. We know that everyone is different so try asking an Earth Treks staff member if you’re looking for more inspiration.
