Earth Treks founder Chris Warner, along with Earth Trek Expedition Guide Nelson Laur, led a team of 17 cancer survivors and family members to the summit of Kilimanjaro last week, raising over $200,000 for LIVESTRONG®. The expedition was sponsored by Gregory and Chris has written a lovely summary of the trip for the Gregory blog here.
The Earth Treks Climbing Team has returned from the 2012 SCS
Youth Nationals and we are thrilled to announce our team placed 5th in the
nation this year! With over 70 different teams and 450+ competitors
at the event, we are very proud of our climbers for their amazing performances
at this year's championships. In addition to placing well as a team, three of
our climbers were invited to join the 2012 US Team: Arabella Jariel for both
Sport and Speed Climbing, Kayla Lieuw for Speed Climbing and Brandon Lieuw for
Speed Climbing as well. Kayla and Brandon will be travelling with the US Team
in August to compete at the Youth World Championships in Singapore! A special
congratulations to Kayla Leiuw for becoming the two time reigning Female Youth
B Speed Climbing National Champion!
We would like to thank USA Climbing and
Stone Summit for hosting another phenomenal event, and a huge thank you to all
the parents, volunteers, coaches and athletes who made the event possible and
provided a great atmosphere throughout the week. Below are the full results

Yesterday marked the end of the qualifying rounds for the 2012 SCS National Championships. Eight climbers from Team Earth Treks have moved on to the Semi-Final round today, and three climbers will advance to the final round of Speed Climbing. The event will be concluded with the Sport Climbing finals on Sunday morning before the team heads back north for some recovery time.
