At 6:55am, the 2012 Kilimanjaro Expedition Team successfully arrived at the summit! Congratulations to Sam Cila, Brad Winters, Jon Facemire, Jeff Curtin and Earth Treks Lead Mountain Guide, Dan Jenkins!

After a short hike to Barafu High Camp this morning, the Kilimanjaro Expedition Team is napping and preparing for a 1:00am departure for the summit. They'll have one more meal and another evening rest before leaving high camp at the wee hours.

The Kili Expedition team hiked to Karanga Valley Camp today. Spirits are high and with only one day left, they'll need all the rest they can get at camp. After refueling on delicious fare (and more Old Bay it would seem!) they'll ready their gear for the summit bid tomorrow night.

The Kilimanjaro Expedition team gets a much needed rest day today at Baranca Camp. Carb loading for the tough days ahead, Jon Facemire helped to fix up a batch of Old Bay popcorn in the dining tent. Nothing like a little taste of Maryland while you're in Tanzania!

They'll need all the rest they can get, as Summit Day is only three days away and it all starts tomorrow with a strenuous hike to the Karanga Valley Camp.

After an early departure from Shira Camp, the Kilimanjaro Expedition traveled southeast around Kilimanjaro’s main peak today, past the famed Breach Wall. Dan reports that the team descended the plateau into Baranca Camp feeling strong after a great hike and ascent of Lava Tower. A special congratulations to Sam Cila for completing his first ever outdoor rock climb (at the base of Kilimanjaro no less!).
